Correction to RFC 404

This is to correct a typographic error in RFC# 404. The
address of the ISI IMP is 22 (decimal), not 86 as was
erroneously stated. All other numbers in RFC# 404 were
correct; the complete (corrected) text follows:

This week the RAND IMP was temporarily removed from the
Network and a new IMP was installed at ISI. Some of the
people and computers from RAND have moved to ISI, in
particular the RAND TENEX is now the ISI TENEX. The address
of the ISI IMP is 22 (decimal) and the TENEX at ISI is Host
number one; thus the "Network Address" of the ISI TENEX is 86.
Sometime early next week the RAND IMP will be re-installed.
It will still be IMP number 7, and the IBM 360/65 at RAND will
still be "Network Address" 7.

PROBLEMRFC 404 contained a typographic error in the stated address of the ISI IMP.
MECHANISMRFC 405 corrects the IMP address to 22 decimal and repeats the corrected text of RFC 404.
THE CORRECTIONIt says all other numbers in RFC 404 were correct. The unit metadata says RFC 405 updates RFC 404.

§1Correcting the IMP Address

RFC 405 corrects a typographic error in RFC 404. The address of the ISI IMP is 22 decimal, not 86 as the earlier RFC stated. The note says all other numbers in RFC 404 were correct.

The earlier note gave the wrong number for the ISI IMP. This RFC corrects it to 22 decimal.

§2The Corrected Network Details

The RAND IMP was temporarily removed from the network and a new IMP installed at ISI. Some people and computers moved from RAND to ISI; the RAND TENEX became the ISI TENEX.

The ISI IMP address is 22 decimal, and the TENEX at ISI is Host number one, giving the ISI TENEX Network Address as 86. The RAND IMP was expected to return as IMP number 7, and RAND's IBM 360/65 would retain Network Address 7.

The IMP number and the host's network address are different values. The correction changes the ISI IMP address but keeps the ISI TENEX network address at 86.

§3What Remains Unchanged

The correction concerns the ISI IMP's address only. The RFC states that the other numbers in RFC 404 were correct, including the ISI TENEX Network Address 86 and RAND's address 7.

Only the IMP address was wrong. The other values in RFC 404 remain as stated.
